Happy Wednesday everyone!
I feel happy every time when I think of Wednesdays because my favorite Thursdays come after Wednesdays and weekends come after that...Weird reason..=P
It's getting really cold these days and I went to grab a cup of mocha cappuccino on the way back to the office from a meeting. Speaking of the meetings, that's something I do for my job. I get to be the Mandarin speaking interpreter for parent-teacher conferences, special education meetings, or just anything when they request a translator.
For the previous two meetings, I didn't get the chance to translate like I was supposed to because the parents were able to speak English. I guess they just requested an interpreter so they would feel secured. Even though I didn't help much, I realized that I actually learned a lot from those meetings. I had the opportunity to know how people think, react, communicate, and cooperate with each other from parents' perspective as well as school staff.
Here's what I've learned...
Don't just have one child. This student is the only child and he tends to be too excited when he goes to school because he is alone at home all the time. He does everything to get other's attention because he wants to make friends but just doesn't know the appropriate way in social situations. He is very bossy because they he has no sibling to learn to share with others and that causes problems at school. My conclusion is..."Have as many children as possible!" just kidding...haha =)
Family is so important to children. This single mom keeps getting notices from school regarding her son's misbehavior in the classroom. She is very concerned about her child but I found out that she doesn't stay with her child everyday because of her working schedule and location. I don't think I would ever understand how painful it is to the children whose parents got divorced and needs to stay with relatives. If I was the child, I would feel abandoned.
It's truly a blessing from God to have a complete, caring, and loving family. I was thinking the other day about my future family, what I could give to my children. I know it's kind of too early to think about that but it's my goal and my hope to be the best mom possible!
